It isn’t easy when first dates, or should I say, most dates usually involve food (and drink) at one point or another. Staying healthy and sticking to your “diet” can fall to the way side when you enter the dating world, but there is no reason to let falling in love or just having a little fun, get in the way of your overall health.
When picking what to do on your date it would be easier for you to be in control of the situation. Whether its a restaurant or making dinner at your place. Pick a place that will accommodate your food restrictions. If your date recommends a place first, take a look at the menu to make sure there is something you would eat. It’s always safe to go with a salad or wrap- keep it simple.
According to Women’s Health, 95% of singles are turned off by picky eaters so don’t go and ask the waiter for a personalized meal. Making dinner for your date is a great way to not only get to know the person in a quiet and intimate setting, but the perfect way to make a healthy and delicious meal that you have some control over. Plus, how impressed will they be when they realize you’re a good cook?
There is no need to remind your partner 400 times that you are on a healthy eating regimen but it’s definitely worth mentioning. It is good to be honest about it. They’ll be much more sensitive when it comes to suggesting date ideas. First date? Try meeting for just drinks or coffee. This will allow you to eat whatever you want at home while lightening up a bit on the date. Stay away from the beer and go for a glass of wine or vodka/soda instead. However grabbing a cup of tea or coffee on a Sunday morning will not only save you the calories and money, but allow you to talk without alcohol influencing you in any way.
Sticking to your diet and being confident in the dating world is do-able. It doesn’t mean you cannot have fun while still being true to yourself. Also, it’s important to give yourself a break from time to time. One meal will not make or break a healthy lifestyle or a healthy diet. If you don’t want to go on a date that involves food, there are plenty healthy activities that you can do together! The most important thing is spending time with the person you’re with and hey, maybe you’ll influence that person to live a healthier life and you can do it together.
