Whether you’re a strict vegetarian, pescatarian, or you don’t associate yourself with any eating plan, you can choose a diet that works harder for you. Of course, how can you not have some doubt about “fat burning” foods, it sounds too good to be true. The secret is to incorporate more food that spikes metabolism, enhance digestion and help you stay full for a while. These foods aren’t anything new, you probably already eat them. Normally there’s no magical way to lose weight instantly, but the following foods paired with exercise, have the power to torch fat you just can’t seem to get rid of.
Milk, Yogurt and Cheese
You might have come across some online myths about dairy, but milk does wonders to our body so do yogurt and cheese. According to a review of over 90 studies in the Journal of Nutrition Reviews, it revealed a strong link between high calcium intake and improved body composition.
Additionally, the International Journal of Obesity researchers reviewed 14 randomized controlled clinical trials and found that people who ate the most dairy had a 1.6-pound greater reduction in fat mass compared to those who didn’t eat much dairy. This is because calcium in milk decreases the levels of a vitamin that encourages the fat cell to grow, making it easier to lose weight.
Green tea increases metabolism and the rate at which the liver burns fat. The author of the Journal of Nutrition reported that drinking green tea may directly target abdominal fat. For an effective fat burn, you need to drink six cups of caffeinated green tea a day and do at least 180 minutes of exercise a week. You can add lemon juice, which is easily absorbed into our system, to make the tea heart healthy.
Telling someone to eat fat while there are trying to lose fat sounds like the worst advice you can give. However, getting more omega 3 fatty acids from salmon fish has been recommended by multiple doctors because it helps with fat burning. The way omega 3 fatty acids reduce fat mass isn’t exactly known. Also, this fat helps to make you feel less hungry and more satisfied once you eat it. You should aim at eating a fatty fish meal like salmon, mackerel, herring or canned tuna at least twice a week. Alternatively, you can substitute the fish with fat burning foods that are rich in omega 3s.
I know at some point you’ve felt the burn of chili pepper; this is exactly what these peppers do to the calories in your body. An active compound called capsaicin in chili peppers or hot peppers slightly boosts metabolic rate. Apart from being thermogenic, hot peppers make you feel satisfied. Also, hot pepper raises energy expenditure and it helps one to live long.
Oats and Barley
To be clear, carbs are healthy as long as you’re eating the right kind. In fact, they help in burning fat more than most of the foods. Adding barley to your diet instead of white rice for dinner could be the best way to shed dangerous belly fat. In addition to that, whole grains make you full stopping you from overeating. Barley, in particular, is known to raise blood sugar slowly so that you’re free of the sugar spikes and crash that leaves you hungry soon after a meal.
Eggs are a great source of protein which helps with fat burning in a number of ways. One way is that your body uses a lot of energy (calories) to break down protein foods than it does to break other foods. Plus, eating protein helps you retain your muscle even when you’re losing weight. A single egg provides you with six grams of protein making it the top food to burn fat while eating healthy.
Seaweeds in sushi, salads or dried snack are generally low in calories and full of iodine, an important mineral in regulating the body’s metabolism, which is why people who produce less thyroid hormone may struggle with excess weight. Studies have shown that eating seaweeds help in losing fat around the middle. Choose the brown varieties of seaweed which contain a compound called fucoxanthin, which helps in weight loss by increasing the number of calories the body burns.
To ensure you’re on the right track of fat burning, you should consider flavoring your food with herbs and spices which help in cutting back salt intake. Herbs like basil, rosemary, tarragon, mint, oregano and black pepper are a great addition to your diet.
